Yayasan Ammirul Ummah (YAU), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) founded in Terengganu, has successfully distributed donations in the form of Ummah Food Baskets to 250 underprivileged student families around the Kuala Terengganu and Kuala Nerus districts.
This program is in collaboration with the Terengganu State Education Department and the District Education Office. A total of 50 schools in the Kuala Terengganu and Kuala Nerus districts came down with the YAU to inspect and also distribute donations to these underprivileged students.
Among the contents received in the Ummah Food Basket are kitchen items such as rice, sardines, sugar, wheat flour and others. Although it may seem small, it can help them to some extent, especially during this school season.
Mrs. Rabiah Fauzi, 52 years old, mother of a student at a school in the Kuala Terengganu district said, "I would like to thank you very much for this assistance because I can use it to cover my expenses this month. This month, my family and I have had to save money because we want to cover the cost of cancer treatment for my husband. Thank you also to Yayasan Ammirul Ummah and the school for choosing my family."
This program focuses on distributing the Ummah Food Basket to families of underprivileged students, with each school having 5 families selected by the school in the underprivileged category. It was well received by the JPNT, PPD and also the school because it can cover the basic food expenses of the recipient family.
