PALU, CENTRAL SULAWESI, INDONESIA - The Amirul Ummah Foundation visited the earthquake-affected region in Donggala Regency, Central Sulawesi, Saturday (9/11).
One of the agendas from the visit was to provide assistance for the repair of the Miftahul Jannah Mosque in Batusuya Village, which was badly damaged by the earthquake two years ago.
The assistance provided by Yayasan Amirul Ummah is considered sufficient to meet material needs such as cement, plywood, and support poles. Repairs are targeted to be completed in the next two weeks.
"It is our great hope that this Ummah Bungun Masjid program can once again prosper the Jamie Miftahul Jannah Mosque, so that the people of Batusuya Donggala can pray and worship together in this mosque." said Program Coordinator Yazied to the Batusuya community, when handing over aid.
The local community also misses the re-establishment of this mosque. Because this has become the pride of the villagers.
"When the earthquake happened, I didn't think about my family at home, I just remembered the mosque. And I was really shocked and overwhelmed when I saw everything flattened to the ground, including the mosque. Oh God," said Mansyur, who is also the Imam of the Miftahul Jannah Mosque.
Until now, the community can only worship in temporary mosques. As a result there is no suitable mosque.
However, at this temporary mosque, some activities such as tarawih during Ramadan cannot run, due to the small size of the mosque, so it cannot accommodate the congregation.
The hope is that with this assistance, the mosque will be completed soon and the community will soon be able to carry out worship activities as usual.
Miftahul Jannah Mosque is one of the first and oldest large mosques (Jami) in the village.
So that apart from being a means of worship, the Miftahul Jannah Mosque is also a historical symbol for the Batusuya Village community.
The earthquake that happened two years ago made this mosque level with the ground. Until 2020, the community has not been able to rebuild this mosque due to limited funds. Because the community only relies on self-help without donors.
