KUALA LUMPUR:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>The flood situation that has hit several states is worsening with a sharp increase in the number of victims being evacuated to temporary evacuation centres (PPS) this morning.<\/div>\n
To date, the total number of flood victims evacuated to PPS in Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan, Perak, Johor and Sabah is approaching 50,000 people.<\/div>\n

In PAHANG, this morning's flood victims increased to 27,073 from 7,278 families placed in 275 PPS in nine districts, with a significant increase in Temerloh.<\/div>\n
According to the Social Welfare Department (JKM) Disaster Info portal, Temerloh recorded 9,998 flood victims followed by Maran (4,192 people), Lipis (2,528 people), Kuantan (2,334 people), Jerantut (2,069 people), Raub (2,006 people), Pekan (1,689 people), Bera (1,255 people) and Rompin (1,002 people).<\/div>\n

The concessionaire of the East Coast Highway Phase 1 (LPT1) ANIH Berhad, in a statement, announced that KM126.3 (Chenor-Temerloh) was completely closed at 2.30 this morning, while KM113 and KM115 (Lanchang-Temerloh) have been closed since last Tuesday.<\/div>\n
The infobanjir.water.gov.my portal reported that three rivers in Pahang had exceeded the warning level, namely Sungai Jelai at Jeram Bungor, Lipis; Sungai Kuantan at Pintasan Kuantan and Sungai Pahang at four locations.<\/div>\n
In TERENGGANU, the number of flood victims increased to 12,899 people in 50 PPS as of 8 am this morning compared to 8,138 people at 3 pm yesterday with Kemaman recording the highest number of victims at 11,065 people in 28 PPS followed by Dungun (1,574), Hulu Terengganu (207) and Besut (53).<\/div>\n
In addition, the Irrigation and Drainage Department reported that two rivers in two districts were still above the danger level, namely the Kemaman River at Rumah Pam Paya Paman at 6.67 metres (m) (danger level 4 m) and the Dungun River at Jambatan Jerangau at 13.23 m (danger level 12.5 m).<\/div>\n

In KELANTAN, the number of flood victims increased to 6,319 people from 1,726 families this morning compared to 5,896 people from 1,520 families yesterday evening, with 75 PPS activated.<\/div>\n

The Social Welfare Department's (JKM) Disaster Info application informed that Kota Bharu was the latest district to be hit by floods with 13 victims, after floods hit five other districts, namely Kuala Krai with 3,063 victims, Pasir Mas (1,496), Tanah Merah (623), Jeli (609) and Gua Musang (515).<\/div>\n

According to infobanjir.water.gov.my, as of this morning, seven rivers in the state have exceeded the danger level, including Sungai Galas in Limau Kasturi, Gua Musang; Sungai Lebir in Tualang, Kuala Krai; and Sungai Kelantan in Kuala Krai.<\/div>\n
In PERAK, Perak Tengah became the latest district to be hit by floods with a PPS at the Kampung Tanjung Aur community hall opened to accommodate nine victims from three families, bringing the total number of flood victims in the state as of 6am this morning to 359 people from 100 families.<\/div>\n
A spokesperson for the State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat said another 334 people were flood victims in the Hilir Perak district who were currently taking shelter in two PPS, while another 16 people were in the Hulu Perak district and were placed in one PPS.<\/div>\n
According to infobanjir.water.gov.my, the level of the Perak River in Kuala Kenderong, Hulu Perak and in Kampung Gajah, Central Perak is currently at the warning level after recording readings of 112.43 m and 6.54 m respectively as of 6 am this morning.<\/div>\n
In JOHOR, the number of flood victims in the state has decreased to 1,422 people from 363 families this morning compared to 2,260 people from 559 families yesterday evening, with 16 PPS currently operating to accommodate victims from five districts, namely five in Kota Tinggi, Kluang (3), Mersing (5), Johor Bahru (1) and two in Segamat.<\/div>\n
Kluang is the highest district with 688 victims from 163 families, while Mersing has 350 victims, Kota Tinggi (223), Segamat (89) and Johor Bahru (72).<\/div>\n
In SABAH, flood victims in Beaufort remain with 35 people from 13 families, who are housed at the PPS Dewan Datuk Seri Panglima Mohd Dun Banir, Beaufort.<\/div>\n
