KUALA LUMPUR:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>The flood situation in five states is showing some positive signs as the number of temporary evacuation centre (PPS) operations is decreasing, this morning.<\/div>\n
As of 8 am this morning, a total of 43,791 people were at evacuation centres in Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan, Johor and Perak compared to 47,038 victims yesterday evening.<\/div>\n

In\u00a0<\/span>PAHANG<\/strong>, the number of flood victims showed a slight decrease, at 26,016 victims as of 7 am this morning, compared to 27,090 people yesterday evening.<\/div>\n
The Disaster Information Portal of the Social Welfare Department (JKM) informed that Temerloh still recorded the highest number of flood victims, at 11,547, followed by Maran (3,002); Lipis (2,421); Pekan (1,968); Raub (1,866); Jerantut (1,663); Kuantan (1,530); Bera (1,383) and Rompin (636) who were placed in 290 PPS.<\/div>\n

The portal also informed that the water level of the Pahang River in the Bera, Maran, Pekan and Temerloh districts has exceeded the danger level.<\/div>\n
Meanwhile, the concessionaire of the East Coast Highway Phase 1 (LPT1), ANIH Berhad, on its Twitter page announced that the route at KM126 Chenor-Temerloh is still closed in both directions.<\/div>\n

In\u00a0<\/span>STUNNING<\/strong>, the number of flood victims has decreased to 11,804 people in 53 PPS, compared to 13,092 people at 3 pm yesterday.<\/div>\n

Head of the State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat, Lieutenant Colonel (PA) Che Adam A Rahman said Kemaman still recorded the highest number of victims, at 9,424 people, followed by Dungun (2,292) and Hulu Terengganu (88).<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
"This decrease is because there are areas in Hulu Kemaman where the floods have receded, so the affected residents have been allowed to return to their homes. However, the flood situation in Chukai town has still not recovered at this time," he told reporters today.<\/div>\n

Apart from that, the Irrigation and Drainage Department reported that two rivers in two districts are still above the danger level, namely the Kemaman River at Rumah Pam Paya Paman at 5.83m and the Dungun River at Jambatan Jerangau at 13.04m.<\/div>\n

In\u00a0<\/span>KELANTAN<\/strong>, a total of 4,633 people from 1,386 families are still placed in 60 PPS involving six districts of the state.<\/div>\n

Based on the JKM Disaster Info application, Kuala Krai still recorded the highest number of victims at 2,400 people followed by Pasir Mas (1,592); Tanah Merah (406); Gua Musang (149); Jeli (64) and Kota Bharu (22).<\/div>\n

The infobanjir.water.gov.my portal informed that as of 7 am this morning, five rivers in the state recorded readings exceeding the danger level, namely the Kelantan River in Kuala Krai (25.38 metres), the Kelantan River in Kusial Tanah Merah (17.36m), the Kelantan River at the Customs Jetty (5.04m), the Golok River in Rantau Panjang (10.42m) and the Golok River in Kuala Jambu (2.92m).<\/div>\n

In\u00a0<\/span>JOHOR<\/strong>, a total of 1,207 victims from 305 families were still in 13 PPS this morning, according to state Health and Environment Committee Chairman R. Vidyananthan.<\/div>\n

He said that of the total, 578 people from 137 families are in two PPS in Kluang; 320 victims from 85 families in five PPS in Mersing; 148 people from 35 families (three PPS in Kota Tinggi); 89 people from 24 families in two PPS in Segamat and 72 victims from 24 families in a PPS in Johor Bahru.<\/div>\n

"So far, two roads, namely Jalan Haji Suhud in Johor Bahru and Jalan Tanah Abang in Mersing, are still closed to all vehicles," he said in a statement here, today.<\/div>\n

In\u00a0<\/span>SILVER<\/strong>, a total of 131 flood victims from 35 families are still being housed in three PPS in the affected districts.<\/div>\n

According to the JKM Disaster Info portal, the Hilir Perak district recorded the highest number of flood victims, at 108 people, followed by Hulu Perak (16) and Central Perak (seven).<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
According to infobanjir.water.gov.my, the level of the Perak River in Kuala Kenderong and Lake Temenggor in Hulu Perak as well as in Kampung Gajah in the Perak Tengah district is currently at the warning level after recording readings of 112.31m, 247.15m and 6.71m, respectively, as of 7 am this morning.<\/div>\n
