JOHOR BARU:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>The floods in Johor have worsened as the number of flood victims continues to rise to 3,145 people from 904 families as of 8am on Monday.<\/div>\n
Johor State Health and Environment Exco, R Vidyananthan, said the number continued to show an increase compared to 3,107 people from 895 families as of 4 am.<\/div>\n

"A total of 14 new temporary relief centres (PPS) have been opened in Johor Bahru and Kulai. These two districts had all closed PPS before but due to continuous heavy rain and several areas being flooded again, they were reopened."<\/div>\n
"Among the areas that have been flooded again are Kampung Laut Batu 10 and Kampung Sepakat in Johor Bahru. So far, five districts have been affected by flooding, namely Kota Tinggi, Mersing, Kulai, Segamat and Johor Bahru.<\/div>\n

"The district with the largest number of flood victims placed in PPS so far is in Kota Tinggi, they are placed in schools and halls in 20 PPS. The Social Welfare Department (JKM) has provided food supplies in all PPS throughout the state," he said in a statement here on Monday.<\/div>\n

Vidyananthan said, based on the Meteorological Department's report, dangerous heavy rains will hit Johor Bahru, Batu Pahat, Kulai, Kluang, Pontian and Kota Tinggi.<\/div>\n
He said heavy rain at a severe level hit Segamat and Mersing while heavy rain at an alert level hit Tangkak and Muar.<\/div>\n

He said high tides continued to occur in Tanjung Sedeli, Kota Tinggi, Johor Bahru and Kukup, Pontian on Monday morning and night.<\/div>\n
"High tides occurred in Tanjung Sedili at 7.15 am and 9 pm with heights of 194 and 260 metres (M), Johor Bahru at 9.15 am and 11.35 pm (292 and 304M) and Kukup at 9.16 am and 10.46 pm (344 and 257M)," he said.<\/div>\n
